There are the most popular ski resorts based on a number of factors, such as how easy it is to get there, how good the restaurants are, and what the town offers when you’re not on the slopes. But if you’re looking for the best places to ski from a pure ski enthusiast’s point of view, that’s a different story.

1. Breckenridge, Colorado

Each year, Breckenridge sees an average of 175 inches of snow on its 3,000 acres of ski trails. Its highest peak is around 13,000 feet where you’re guaranteed to find perfect snow conditions.

Skiers of all abilities flock to this area of the Rockies every ski season for some of the world’s best skiing.

2. Courchevel, France

Located in the French Alps, it is part of a connected ski area, the Three Valleys or Trois Vallées, that is the largest in the world.

There are close to 95 miles of north facing, well-groomed runs. Expert skiers can explore plenty of challenging black runs. It’s also popular with beginners because of slope-side accomodations like the Courchevel chalets.

3. St. Anton, Austria

Located in one of Europe’s snowiest regions, St. Anton has a very sophisticated lift system with 88 cable cars and lifts. It is rated one of the top resorts in the Alps.

There is 340 km of marked ski paths for skiers of all skill levels and 200km of trails for those looking for more challenging off-piste runs.

4. Niseko, Japan

When someone brings up the top ski resorts in the world, Japan is not likely to come to mind. However, a writer from Ski.com says Niseko, Japan should be on everyone’s bucket list.

Their season runs from December to April and you can count on quality powder snow for its entirety. This resort is well-known for its tree runs and wide open mountain basins.

Get yourself the Niseko All Mountain Pass and ski all 4 of the connected zones.
