Croatia establishes itself as the top destination in 2018

Culture vultures are helping boost visitors to Croatia, with the thriving arts scene drawing people from all over the world. Secret no more, Europe’s rising star has firmly established itself as the holiday destination of 2018 and beyond.

As Ibiza attempts to clean up its image in time for its next wave of holidaymakers, Croatia, in stark contrast, has firmly established itself as the premier alternative to Ibiza and cultural front-runner for holidays with a purpose.

A new report by UK travel retailer Holiday Hypermarket reveals Croatia as the holiday destination to head to this summer.

From January to March, the package holiday retailer saw a huge 272% spike in summer holiday bookings to Croatia, compared to the same period in 2017.

Behind this rise you’ll find travellers under 30, culture buffs and festival-lovers heading to the country in spades to be part of some of the biggest music and arts events in the world.

Accommodation in Croatia is also excellent with a huge range of different options for different budgets. From cute cosy stone cottages to large luxury villas in Croatia, large beach resort hotels to tiny boutique city hideaways and of course not forgetting the ever popular sailing flotilla holidays – there really is something for everyone in this beautiful country.

Ivona Grgan, representative for the Croatian National Tourist Board says, “13 new flights introduced from the UK contribute to over 70 new regular flight routes opened in 2018. Combined with a total of 20% increase in arrivals and overnight stays in the first three months, 100,000 more visitors are expected to travel to Croatia from the UK this year, to surpass last year’s record-breaking figures.”

“Most recently positioned on the world map of gastronomy, with newly-awarded Michelin stars, acknowledged for unspoilt nature showcased in 11 UNESCO Heritage sites and almost 50 music festivals, Croatia is becoming more recognised as an all-year and must-see destination that has something for everyone,” Grgan adds.

Craig Duncan, representative for Holiday Hypermarket, comments, “Package deals to Croatia are seeing an unprecedented demand. As a destination with wide appeal, it offers so much choice for different types of holidaymaker, all kinds of experiences, and every kind of budget”.
