Six romantic holiday destinations for couples

  • April 30, 2018
  • admin

What makes a holiday destination perfect depends on the couple, but no matter if you love adventure, are desperate for a sun-filled beach holiday, or you want to eat your way through a country, we have a travel destination for you.

Road trip the South Island New Zealand

Stay close to home and enjoy the diverse scenery of the South Island. Start in Christchurch and head north to Kaikoura. Feast on crayfish, and then seek out the baby seal colony north of the township for some cute entertainment. Continue north to the top of the island, and enjoy Nelson, Blenheim, and the Marlborough Sounds. Seek out the local wineries and walk some of the beautiful Queen Charlotte walkway. Then head south. Cruise through Tekapo, Pukaki, and Mount Cook, and aim for Wanaka. It’s less touristy than its cousin over the pass, Queenstown.  Te Anau, Milford, and Doubtful Sound are all incredible. Then the Catlin’s coastline is wild and rugged, with penguins, seals, and the sound of bellbirds and tuis ringing in the air. Then, head north to Christchurch via Dunedin. There is plenty to do in Dunedin, and then a short drive north through Oamaru and Timaru leads you back to Christchurch. This trip could take from one week… to one month, easily.

If you want to stay close to home but still have Instagram-envy-inducing-pics then the South Island is perfect.

Las Vegas, baby!

There is plenty to do in Las Vegas, and more than just gambling! While the epic casinos and elaborate buffets are part of the attraction, there are also more music acts than you can imagine, with singers such as Britney Spears as resident entertainers. Hotels also have incredible pools, perfect to read your book beside, and an array of other ways to relax. The wider area offers incredible hiking and trekking at Red Rock Canyon, and of course the Grand Canyon is only a short trip away.

New York for Christmas

Window shop along 5th Avenue in the snow, admiring the incredible window displays of Saks, Barney’s and Tiffany’s. Snuggle up in your scarf, hat, coat and gloves for ice skating in the Bryant Park winter village. Walk through the winter wonderland of Central Park to visit the Rockefeller Center 76-foot-tall Christmas Tree, adorned with 45,000 sparkling LED lights. Walk along the Brooklyn Bridge and watch New York from afar. Grab a cab to Dyker Heights and check out the crazy-overboard Christmas lights in the neighbourhood.

Wrap up warm and enjoy the magical NYC Christmas, eat lavish winter meals, and drink mulled wine until you’re warm again. For the urban couple with a love of food, NYC is for you!

Masai Mara, Kenya

If you are a wildlife lover, then the Great Migration in Kenya is for you. With over 2 million animals chasing water (and therefore food) across vast tracts of plains, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Watch wildebeest, zebra and gazelle thundering across the savannah to find lush pastures… and the lions, crocodiles and other predators that sneakily await their arrival.

Masai Mara is also famous for the pink flamingos that call the lakes home. Spend time with the local Maasi tribe, as they continue to fight to retain their culture and ancient way of life against the rising tide of Western culture.

Travel Italy by car

Hire a car and plan an epic journey across romantic Italy. From Milan, the fashion capital of the world, head south (with a stop at Pisa to see the leaning tower). Then head through Florence and aim for Rome. The history in Rome is incredible, with The Roman Forum, the Colosseum and much more.

Continue south to Naples, where you can indulge in their traditional food-pizza! The underground tours of the Naples are nothing short of incredible. Not far from Naples, you’ll find Pompeii, which was destroyed by a volcanic eruption almost 2000 years ago. If you haven’t had enough pizza and pasta by now, continue south through darling Sorrento, and cruise down through Positano and the Amalfi Coastline for the most incredible views and romantic candle-lit dinners.

Ship cruises- anywhere your heart desires

You could cruise through Europe, the Pacific Islands, around North America…. anywhere. Whatever cruise you go on, you’ll see a number of different cities and can be assured of a restful time while travelling between destinations. Relax pool-side with a book, use the gym, watch a movie, or just spend time with your loved one. Be wary of the food though- the buffets are 24 hours and the variety of cuisines available are huge, as they cater to every taste!
