Save Cash, Travel More

  • January 30, 2018

You won’t need anyone to tell you that travel can be expensive. The best things in life don’t come for free, and that means a little sacrifice and careful thinking, in order to save cash to fund your travel adventures. Before you jet off is certainly the best time to stockpile some savings, although working online whilst you travel, perhaps blogging or freelancing in some other skill you have, is a good way to keep your travels going.

Knowing what to do in order to save money is the best way forward. Let’s explore a few methods to keep some cash in your bank account, ready to use on your next travel adventure.

Think Carefully About Your House

Are you going away for a year at least? Or maybe even six months? Paying rent whilst you’re away is a sure fire way to sap your bank account from the get go. Could you stay with friends when you return home, until you find somewhere new? If so, and if you don’t have a particular attachment to your home, why not give up your lease and put your belongings into storage until you return home? You won’t struggle to find storage solutions, simply search for your particular area. For instance, there are countless storage Houston solutions if you live in the Houston region, as well as further afield too.

Of course, if you own your home, you can’t just give it up. You could sell it, and that would certainly give you some cash, but if you don’t want to do that, how about renting your home out? That way you get some cash coming in every moth too.

Sell Your Junk

Have a total clear out and declutter your home. Sell what you don’t use or don’t want, and get some cash for it! Try online auction sites, such as eBay, or check out local selling boards on Facebook. They say that one man’s junk is another man’s treasure and that is certainly a truth. Any cash you get, put it to one side.

Find a High Interest Savings Account

Anything you manage to save needs to be put into a high interest savings account, where you will be earning cash whilst you save. This also cuts down on the chances of you dibbing into your savings for your daily expenses. Check out the best options at your bank, or even changes banks if you find a better offer somewhere else. Any cash saved is cash to use on your adventures!

Streamline Your Expenses

Do you have contracts with gyms that you no longer go to? Do you have cell phone contracts that are due to expire? Is there anything coming out of your bank monthly that you can stop and save? Check out where your money is going and see what you can do. You could even look at your household utility bills and see if you could change providers, to take advantage of a better deal somewhere else.

Money saved, adventure planned, flight booked!
