6 Tips To Be At Your Best For Your Travel Wedding

  • December 11, 2017

Getting married is perhaps one of the most rewarding and stressful experiences you’ll ever go through. On one end, you’re starting a new life with someone, which is both exciting and liberating. But on the other, it can be a tedious process that requires a ton of planning and research (especially if you’re traveling).

However, while the latter will always be somewhat true, formulating the perfect travel wedding doesn’t have to be as difficult as you might make it out to be. That’s why I’m going walk through a few helpful tips to alleviate the process. Check it out below:

Shop Online

When finding the best deal for your destination wedding, then online is going to be your number one place. This includes anything from your catering and venue to your bridal gown and flowers. Additionally, as you’re coordinating this entire affair from a different location, the internet is going to be the primary tool that helps you cross-compare prices on nearly every aspect of your wedding. However, compiling all of this can be tricky, which is why organization is key.

Make a list with your significant other of all of the things you want in your travel wedding, starting with the city or town you want to get married in. This will help you set a budget and stick with it, which will be crucial in knowing what you can invest in your decor and dress. Overall, taking the time to sort this all out ahead of time will give you the financial freedom to search around online and save for what you’re really after, ensuring you look your best for your wedding day.

Create A Focus On Your Health

One overlooked aspect of the engagement process is the toll it can take on your physical and mental health. After all, this is a stressful period and one that you’re going to want pay particular attention to keeping up with your health. Be on the lookout for bad habits, such as slacking on exercise or straying away from your diet. Because when you add in the stresses of planning and traveling for your wedding, being in your best form will help you shine on your special day.

Know The Affordability Of The City You’re Going

As I mentioned above, one of the first things you should knock out for your travel wedding is the city you’re going to get married in. Whether that be having a nice countryside wedding or venturing off to Rome, knowing how expensive everything will be there is going to dictate how your wedding will go. Make no mistake, this is something that will require a fair amount of planning over a traditional ceremony, but one that you’ll remember forever.

Start checking out the prices on travel, restaurants, lodging, venues, or any other aspect you can think of. It’s important to note that this will help you work through your guest list, which you need to be mindful of what your friends and family can afford as well. While this can be somewhat painstaking, it will give you a much clearer vision of the ideal day.

Go Vintage For Your Accessories

A great money-saving technique for your wedding day is shopping around at vintage boutiques or consignment stores. Believe it or not, there are actually some great finds in there to take advantage of at a fraction of the price. In fact, according to the National Association for Resale Professionals, this is approximately a $17.5 billion industry, which says a lot about the frequency of fashionistas looking to these spots for inspiration. Yes, the thrift store can be the perfect place to pick up any jewelry or other accessories that will make your outfit impeccable and will be great to show off to locals in your travel location as well.

Have Your Outfit Match The Season

If you’re really looking to set the aesthetic, then having the theme of your wedding match the season is a surefire bet. Plus, with the bonus of travel, you can take advantage of off seasons in other parts of the country or world. According to XO Group, 40% of weddings happen in the fall months, which it might be advantageous to utilize your travel to get married in the spring or winter.

Factor in the weather and setting of the off season locations you might be considering. Not only will you be able to base your wedding on a certain theme, but it will make buying outfits for both you and your wedding party much easier. All-in-all, this is one aspect of your wedding you want to take your time and curate to become picture-perfect.
