Tips for Getting More Out of Your Business Travel

  • October 23, 2017
  • admin

As any experienced business traveler knows, travelling for work-related purposes is nothing like travelling for leisure. Business travel is all about being productive and taking care of business – anything more than this is a plus.  (Improve your business skills with professional hands-on courses at Training Connection). So, what is the best way to get more out of business travel so that your trips are valuable, successful and even enjoyable?

Create a Checklist

If you travel regularly, then you certainly know the horrible feeling of anxiety that you have forgotten something important. Eliminate this anxiety by creating a checklist of everything that you need. When the time comes to pack, use this checklist and physically tick items off so that you can rest easy. It is, of course, essential to have your work gear, but remember to pack comfortable clothing too and be prepared for all different types of weather and occasion wear.

Research

In order to get the most out of your trip, spend time researching where you are going so that you are well prepared and are equipped in advance. This research should include how to get around, local customs, currency, language etc. It is also worth researching good places to eat near your hotel and any tourist attractions in the area to get an idea of what you would like to do on your trip. Local events and attractions you might want to go see should also be researched and checked to see when and where they are taking place.

Beating Fatigue

Fatigue and jet lag is a major problem when it comes to business travel, particularly if you are a frequent business traveler. Drink plenty of water, eat healthily and try to adapt to the local time as quickly as possible.

Stress-Free Itinerary

You are on the trip for work purposes so everything must revolve around work, but that is not to say that you cannot enjoy yourself. Make sure that your itinerary includes time to explore the local area, but it is also vital that you allow plenty of time for relaxing and enjoying your surroundings. Ideally, spend time around the hotel taking advantage of the facilities and services on offer, but do not spend all of your free time cooped up in your hotel room. If you are struggling for ideas, ask your concierge or someone you are meeting for work on any suggestions (this can be good for networking too). There is also the reception and information desk points to ask any questions and gain help from.

Business Travel Agency

Arranging the bookings can be incredibly stressful and time-consuming, so consider leaving this to the professionals by using a business travel agency like Statesman Travel who can manage all the details of the trip, including flights, accommodation, travel and more. This allows you to focus your attention on the purpose of the trip.

By following this advice, it can greatly reduce the stress of the trip and even ensure that it is both enjoyable and productive.
