An established member of the TUI Group, Thomson Cruises have recently announced its largest rebrand to date, now operating under the name Marella Cruises. The rebrand is the largest change in the company’s history, covering all existing Thomson ships alongside Marella Explorer, set for launch in 2018. As part of the move, discount cruise retailer CruiseDeals.co.uk is proud to launch the newly-named Marella fleet.
The name Marella means ‘shining sea’ in Celtic, encompassing the company’s spirit of exploration and commitment to stand-out service throughout. Here’s a look at Marella’s impressive fleet in all its glory.
Marella Discovery
Marella Discovery is the largest ship in the fleet, launched in 2016 with modern amenities and extravagant features including a five-storey atrium and outdoor cinema playing movies by moonlight. Discovery boasts seven restaurants and a choice of two swimming pools – one indoor one outdoor. With 915 cabins and a selection of Family, Executive and Royal suites, this impressive vessel is a popular choice amongst multi-generational cruisers.
Marella Discovery 2
Launched in 2017 to accompany her sister ship of the same name, Discovery 2 mainly sails across the Mediterranean and is classed as a mid-sized vessel. She delivers on All Inclusive sailings and has seven restaurants onboard, including East Asian cuisine at Kora La. Active travellers will enjoy the rock-climbing wall, gym and jogging track – offering the opportunity to keep fit on the seas.
Marella Dream
Marella Dream proudly welcomes families onboard, with several child-friendly amenities and activities lined up. Highlights include a children’s only pool, a stage school to learn theatrics and plenty of restaurants with options for all ages. She also has six Grand Suites, each with a living area, whirlpool bath and walk-in wardrobe.
Marella Celebration
Packed with luxury, Marella Celebration exemplifies the VIP treatment. She’s one of the smaller boats in the fleet, yet her intimate setting is a focal point for relaxation and pampering. The Ocean’s Beauty Salon and Spa runs over two storeys and has numerous massage treatments available. Restaurants serve gourmet dishes, highlights of which include six-course meals at the Mistral’s and Zilli restaurants.
Spirit
Thomson Spirit will be known simply as Spirit, as this vessel is only sailing for one more season and retires next summer. Spirit has a laid-back feel, with lounge bars, A La Carte Restaurants and a Terrace Grill. Teenagers can enjoy each other’s company at their own hangout spot – Graffiti’s, while Spirit also has her own spa, complete with sauna and beauty treatments.
Marella Explorer
Marella Explorer is the latest addition to the fleet and will begin sailing summer 2018. This 5* ship boasts 10 restaurants and 10 bars, including Indigo bar with sweeping panoramic views and homemade rolls at Umi Sushi. Executive Suites with Premier Service allow passengers to go through express check-in, take advantage of a free pressing service and enjoy 537 square feet of privacy.
All these cruise ships set sail at night, giving cruisers less days at sea and more time on shore excursions. Thomson Cruises’ industry-renowned staff and crew will stay the same, helping to make every voyage on a Marella Cruises ship as enjoyable as possible.
