Choosing the ideal holiday destination for your family doesn’t have to come with a big price tag. There are plenty of child-friendly locations within Europe you can visit. Whilst planning your trip abroad, make sure you are eligible for free health care in Europe using your European Health Insurance Card. Find out how to check its validity or renew it at ehic.co.uk. Check out our top family destinations in Europe below:

Mallorca, Spain

Situated off the east coast of Spain, Mallora is just one of the most popular family holiday destinations in Europe. If you’re looking for the ultimate stress-free travel, you could enjoy endless days in just less than two hours. Make a splash at Aqualand El Arenal, one of Mallorca’s largest amusement parks with a number of water slides and child friendly splash pools and raft rides.  But that not all the small island has to offer. Not only are there endless amounts of resorts to choose from, Mallorca is home to some of the best marine reserves. Embark as a family to the depths of the opsalent blue sea to spot the yellow sponge, Learned Rockfish or classic Sea Anemone.

Lanzarote, Spain

As one of the Canary Island based just off the coat of West Africa, Lanzarote is commonly known for it all year warm weather. Spend the day hopping beach to beach and enjoying an array of water sports suitable for all ages. There’s so much to explore in Lanzarote, from the volcanic tunnels to the Cuevas de los Verdes. It is definitely worth spending time to endure the beauty of the caves and their amazing beach-facing views. Los Lagos is one of the most famous caves to visit.

Rome, Italy

Despite being a less-common destination for families, Rome has more than enough to offer. From spending the day at Gladiator school to learn how to battle like a warrior to joining local food experts to help recreate the flavours of Rome, your loved ones will feel immersed in the beauty, culture and historic background of the city. One of the most popular landmarks in Rome is the Colosseum. As the largest amphitheatre ever built, enjoy what it has to offer from the inside or out.

Zurich, Switzerland

Despite the cooler weather, Zurich is just as good as any other European holiday. Home to the largest Dinosaur Museum of its kind; treat your children to an overload of life-size model dinosaurs including the T-Rex and Triceratop. Alternatively, get on the wild side at Zoo Zurich. Zoo Zurich is home to the wildlife of Madagascar. Get up close and personal with the elephants in the elephant house or take the tour through the Mongolian Steppe.

Pays Basque, France

Take time out from technology camping in the Pays Basque. If you’re looking for a holiday that screams adventure and fun, a few days away packed with beaches, mountains and forests in France is ideal for you. Spend you nights in a spacious dome, complete with hanging beds and al fresco dining. Perfect for those who love an outdoor adventure, but still enjoy the comfort of their own home.
