How to Fit Travel around Your Busy Student Lifestyle

  • February 3, 2017
  • admin

Your student years are usually filled with opportunity, chances to develop and grow, and learn new things. But, when it comes to travelling, which is often one of the best ways to gain new experiences, being a student can often get in the way. After all, when you have to go to class every day and work for assignment deadlines and exams, it can be difficult to find the time to jet off and explore other countries. Thankfully, the way we study is changing, making it easier for students to experience travel at the same time.

Online Study

If you’re studying for your master’s degree, you might want to think about studying online, for example an online masters in social work, which will allow you the flexibility to travel more and even take your studies with you. Since online study is largely self-led and can be done anywhere in the world as long as you’ve got your laptop and an internet connection, it is quickly becoming one of the best ways for avid travelers to improve their education without giving up on or postponing their dreams of seeing the world.

Overseas Work Placements

When you’re studying for a degree program, such as a masters of social work online, you will most likely need to undertake a work placement or internship as part of your program in order to gain the hands-on, professional experience that you need to be successful in your field. Applying to gain work experience overseas can not only be a great way to further your chances of getting a great job in the future, you can also use it as an opportunity to travel as much as possible and immerse yourself in a new culture.

Choose a Travel-Themed Subject

If you’re passionate about travelling and exploring the world, then it would be no surprise if you chose a degree program that would allow you to pursue this hobby as a career in the future. If you’re currently in the process of applying to college, you might want to think about enrolling on programs that will allow you to travel a lot, for example language courses, healthcare, international law or business, or any course that has a student exchange program.

Summer Travelling

Of course, the best thing about being a student is that you get a couple of months off over the summer break in order to have some fun, relax and unwind. Rather than spending your summer at home, there are many programs that you could get involved with. Volunteering overseas, for example, is a great way to spend your time off college and can look awesome on your resume.

Typically, students aren’t the type of people to travel a lot, thanks to a lack of both time and available funds. But, thanks to various resources in the world of education, it’s now possible to gain the educational benefits of travel along with gaining a degree! Just remember to make sure you’ve checked your exam timetable before booking any flights!
