Five Things To Do Before You Go On Vacation

  • October 18, 2016
  • admin

There are a million places you can go for vacation. However, there are some things you need to do before you head to your beach vacation or your trip to hike in the mountains. It’s important to remember that your home will still be there while you’re gone, and that there are some things that are cheaper to do before you head out.

If you want to save a little money, and save yourself some stress as well, while you’re on vacation, here are some things to deal with before you head out.

Deal With Your Beauty Routine

Don’t wait until you are on vacation to get your hair done, whether it’s a cut or color. You are better off going to your normal beautician so you can make sure you get things done right. You may also want to learn how to do some new styles with your hair, depending on what you’ll be doing while you’re on vacation.

Make sure you also have all of the beauty products you need on hand to take with you (and make sure they can make it through customs if you’re visiting another country. It’s important to know what is OK to take where, and you don’t really want to have to change products or spend extra money on vacation.

Put The Mail And Newspapers On Hold

It is not only important to put your mail on hold with your post office, but you want to call your newspapers you have subscriptions with as well. A mailbox full of mail and a yard full of newspapers is a sign to thieves that no one is home and no one is going to be home any time soon. It’s easy enough to start all of these things back up once you get back home from vacation.

Find Someone To Watch Your House

You could hire a house sitter (a professional one or a friend) to come watch your home for you. This would save you from putting the papers on hold, and would save you a lot of worry on if your home is safe while you’re gone (and whether or not you shut the oven off or unplugged the computer. It;s a little extra investment, but it can be worth the peace of mind you’ll have while you’re vacationing.

Invest In Some Good Luggage

If you’re flying anywhere and it’s been awhile since you’ve flown, it may be time to get some new luggage. Many airlines have specific rules on the sizes of luggage, from the stuff you check to your carry on. Do some research and make sure you get the right luggage.

Have A Safety And Emergency Plan

It is also important to have a safety and emergency plan set in place. Know what will happen with your home and belongings in case you are in an accident and never make it home. Have info on you on who to contact if you have an emergency while on vacation.

While you don’t want to just focus on the worst case scenarios, you do want to know that everything is taken care of so you can enjoy your vacation while you’re on it and not worry about other things.
