Get Involved With #MuseumWeek across the UK and Europe

  • March 27, 2014

Across Europe and the UK, hundreds of museums will mark #MuseumWeek from 24-30 March 2014 via Twitter and will release exclusive behind the scenes tweets throughout the week.

Museum Week in the UK

Around 300 museums and galleries all across Europe are taking part, from well-known British cultural institutions such as @Tate (UK art galleries; Tate Britain, Tate Modern, Tate Liverpool & Tate St Ives), @NHM_London (London’s Natural History Museum) which is pictured above and @V_and_A (Victoria and Albert Museum), right through to smaller specialist exhibitions.

Each day of Museum Week is represented by a particular topic pertaining to museum life, with a #DayInTheLife revealing insider views of just what it takes to bring innovative exhibitions to the public. #MuseumMastermind sees museums pose questions to test your knowledge and #MuseumMemories is a chance to get involved and share your most memorable museum stories.

Today, Thursday 27 March is #BehindTheArt with the day dedicated to revealing the structure, history and architecture behind the many galleries, museums and institutions involved.

On Friday 28 March users of Twitter are encouraged to #AskTheCurator which is a superb opportunity to pose those niggling questions about any collections or exhibition that you may have attended.

#MuseumSelfie takes place on Saturday and Sunday (29 and 30 March) where visitors and curators alike are invited to post photos of their local museum exhibits. Sunday is also an opportunity to #GetCreative calling for innovative new titles for collections and works.
