A vacation to Austria is an exciting prospect; soaring snow-tipped mountains, vast pristine lakes and breathtakingly beautiful alpine valleys beckon. And with so many things to see and do, this is one destination that tourists flock to in their droves every year.

The Vienna State Opera House

One of the most impressive pieces of architecture in Austria is the Vienna State Opera House. Located in the middle of its capital city, the orchestra that performs at the Opera House is among the top orchestras in the entire world. In addition to operas, ballets are also performed here. Both types of shows are offered in modern and classical versions.

Hohensalzburg Castle

The Hohensalzburg Castle is among Austria’s most popular tourist destinations. This castle is the best preserved in all of Austria, as well as one of its largest castles. It can be found at the top of Austria’s Festungsberg Mountain, which overlooks the city known as Salzburg. Located inside the castle, tourists will find its “Salzburg Bull,” which is an organ featuring over 200 pipes. Hohensalzburg Castle represents Salzburg’s heart and serves as a stunning piece of architecture dating back to medieval times.

Hofburg Imperial Palace

The President of Austria resides in the Hofburg Imperial Palace. Found in Vienna, the Imperial Palace served as a wintertime home for the Hasburg family, while the nearby Schonbrunn Palace served as the summertime home. In the 14, 15 and 1600s the Hofburg Imperial Palace served as the King’s and Emperor’s seat during the Holy Roman Empire. Afterwards it served as the Emperor of Austria’s site until the year 1918.

St. Anton am Arlberg

Avid skiers will want to visit Austria’s St. Anton am Arlberg ski resort. The courses found at this resort are very challenging and more suited for experienced skiers than beginners. Those who visit the resort during the summertime months often go on a trek through the mountains while they are there. Found in Tyrol, this resort is popular amongst the young crowd.

Hallstatt

The village of Hallstatt is known all over the world as a major producer of salt. Hallstatt has historically been a very prestigious and wealthy village. The success of the salt industry has contributed to the village’s glamour and lent a baroque style to it. Caverns located in the village are the site of a prehistoric man who has been preserved using salt. Hallstatt provides tourists with a very unique experience they won’t find anywhere else. To get around in Hallstatt, the recommended mode of transportation is to rent a car from daddycarhire.com.

Schonbrunn Palace

Schonbrunn Palace is among Vienna’s biggest tourist attractions. This palace contains 1,441 rooms and was built sometime between the years 1696 and 1712. The Emperor Leopold 1 requested that this palace be built. Here tourists will find attractions that include the world’s oldest zoo, as well as a Privy Garden.

These are among the best tourist destinations throughout all of Austria.
