Orlando, Florida: Top Five Places to Go in the Theme Park Capital of the World

  • October 10, 2013
  • Jules

Orlando has long been known as the theme park capital of the world, and it is the impressive collection of huge theme parks that attracts so many visitors year after year. You really will be spoiled for choice when you visit Orlando, but here are five of the best theme parks to put on your itinerary during your stay.

1. Walt Disney World

After you settle in to your Orlando vacation home, it’s time to explore the best theme parks in the world, and one of the first ones you may want to consider is Walt Disney World.

This vast theme park is divided into four parks, each of which will take hours to explore. Visit the Magic Kingdom, itself divided into a number of areas including Adventureland and Fantasyland, or take a trip to the Animal Kingdom, where you can enjoy thrilling rides alongside discovering exciting exotic animals. Then there’s Disney’s Hollywood Studios, complete with live shows and attractions that bring the movies to life, and finally you can visit Epcot, complete with an aquarium and plenty of rides.

2. Universal Orlando

The other really famous theme park in Orlando is Universal Orlando, which is comprised of Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida. This is the place to go to discover all of your favourite movies, which are brought to life through exciting shows and thrilling rides.

In Islands of Adventure you can go on the Jurassic Park River Adventure and check out the Marvel Super Hero Island, and at Universal Studios Florida you can go on rides themed on The Terminator, Shrek, E.T. and more.

3. SeaWorld Orlando

SeaWorld Orlando combines incredible sea creatures with thrilling roller coasters and rides, providing you with the best of both worlds. See dolphins, killer whales, sea lions and more, and make sure you visit the newest attraction, ‘Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin’.

4. LEGOLAND Florida

There are LEGOLAND theme parks all over the world, but this is the biggest and the best. You will find dozens of excellent rides, attractions and live shows spread out across a 150-acre site, and it is the perfect family destination because it is especially suited for younger children.

5. Discovery Cove

You won’t find roller coasters at Discovery Cove, but you will enjoy the extra-special thrill of swimming with dolphins and tropical fish. The tropical scenery brings this park to life, and you will be able to enjoy mighty waterfalls, picturesque lagoons, tropical reefs and more. The number of people who can enter each day is strictly limited, so it will never feel too overcrowded. And to top it all off, it is all-inclusive, so everything is provided for you.

Visit the Top Theme Parks in Orlando

These five theme parks are some of the best that you will find in Orlando, and you should definitely try to visit them all if you get the time. However, there are plenty of other theme parks and other attractions that are awaiting you in Orlando, so you should try to see as many of them as you can during your holiday. And of course, if you can’t fit them all into one trip, there’s always next year!

Marcus Anderson is a grandfather of nine, so theme parks are an important facet of his life. When he’s not taking the grandkids out on an adventure, he loves to write about it online.
