India: The World’s Most Beautiful Beaches

  • September 11, 2013

As autumn approaches, it’s a great time to head off on vacation, with many people preferring beautiful beaches instead of vibrant nightlife. When it comes to Indian beaches, nothing is left to the imagination; not only is the sand golden brown, but they’re also very clean as well. Additionally, India is an ideal location for holidaying with your family, as there are a multitude of beaches to choose from. There’s over 8,000 km of coastline surrounding India, and although you won’t be able to see all of it, there’s a great selection no matter what you’re looking for.

Although India is not known for its beaches, it actually has some of the best in the world. This is the main reason why many tourists flock to this magnificent country, especially during the summer months. Let’s take a look at some of India’s best beaches!

Baga

Baga beach is one of the best places to sunbathe in India. Every year, millions of tourists flock here, as it boasts amazing water sport activities and dolphin cruises, which are great for couples travelling to India. Furthermore, Baga is one of India’s most romantic locations, as many parts of the beach are looked over by traditional restaurants and stunning wildlife. Baga can be found around 16 kilometers from Panaji, the state capital. The best, and also the cheapest time of the year to visit Baga beach is normally October to May every year.

Mandarmani

Mandarmani is one of India’s unique beaches, hidden away from the commercial parts of the coastline. It is located approximately 180 km away from Kolkata airport in East Medinipur, however there are some great places to stay on the beach itself, making your trip even more special. If you’re looking for flights to Kolkata airport be sure to have a look at this website as it will give you the best price available.

Mandarmani is very popular with tourists because it sets itself apart from the hustle and bustle of inner city life. Not only does it offer an amazing walk along the shoreline, but there’s also a lot of water sport and beach activities to experience too, meaning its perfect for the whole family.

Cherai

Cherai beach has become one of the most sought after tourist destinations in Kerala, not least because of the unique blend of sea on one side and backwaters on the other. The calm seawater makes it ideal for swimming and occasionally dolphins also pop up along the shoreline.

One of the best activities to do in Cherai beach is to take a romantic boat ride on the beautiful backwaters, just a few minutes away from the shoreline. Just like Kovalam beach, the ideal time to visit is during the months of September to March. Furthermore, the accommodation here is very cheap, especially for the spectacular view from the hills out onto the water.

Kovalam

Kovalam beach is located south of Kerala, just 16 km away the capital city, Thiruvananthapuram. It has three adjacent crescent beaches, which are separated by the natural rocky outcroppings and several social amenities. These include some great leisure opportunities, such as catamaran cruises, Ayurvedic massage centers and shopping zones with traditional markets. Especially if you’re travelling with your children, the waters here are very shallow, meaning they can play all day long.
