July saw a heat wave hit the UK and, according to the experts, the hottest day of the year is yet to come! Due to this, if you’ve not planned your summer break yet, then why would you leave the UK? You can get just as much of a tan here for a fraction of the price. Here are some great examples of places in the UK that you can visit over the coming months, saving you the cost of a holiday in the sun:
1. Cornwall and the South Coast:
The South coast really is popular at this time of the year and it offers a great range of activities. From major towns like Portsmouth and Southampton to tiny hamlets in the countryside, you can visit a whole host of differing locations. Cornwall summarises and exemplifies Britishness and what is more British than a country cottage in the countryside? If you fancy this luxury, then visit Helpful Holidays.
There’s so much to do in Cornwall and the South that I couldn’t possibly summarise it here! For a list of top attractions, click here.
2. North West Coast:
If relaxing in the countryside isn’t your thing, then why not try the thrill and excitement of Blackpool Pleasure Beach? There really is no need to visit Disneyland when some of the best rides in Europe are right on your doorstep! Relax and enjoy it in a typical British bed and breakfast hotel and, in this weather, you’ll even be able to get on the beach and enjoy an ice cream!
3. Yorkshire Dales:
For something completely different, why not try a week long break in the Yorkshire Dales? Some of the scenery is simply stunning and the walks and trails will help you lose weight and tone up too. Personally, I couldn’t think of a more relaxing holiday.
All of these places are great locations to visit over the summer months- especially with the hot weather around! If you don’t fancy any of those, then there are literally hundreds of other options available. If a week away isn’t your thing, then why not just take a day trip with the kids? The English Heritage site has some great ideas ranging from museums to castles. There really is something for everyone in the UK, and with all this great weather, it really is time that we embraced it!
