Summer is finally here, and you might have plans for going on holiday. If you haven’t booked anything yet, perhaps because the prices of everything are so exorbitant especially during the school holidays, have a look into the cost of coach trips. Travelling by coach with a company like MayDay Travel costs far less than you might think and you can easily get to Europe for less than £50.
Coach travel takes longer than other forms of transport, so you need to factor in an extra day at either side of your holiday – or travel overnight. If you want a week’s holiday then travelling overnight from London to Paris and back again would mean you only have to pay for five nights’ accommodation in Paris: the other two nights would be spent on board the coach at a fraction of the price of a hotel. Plus, on the way there you can go to sleep in London and wake up in Paris, refreshed and ready to start your day.
Unlike train travel you don’t need to worry about strikes, leaves on the lines or delays. Coaches run by reputable companies like iDBUS are comfortable, air conditioned, spacious and run on time. They’re staffed by friendly, knowledgeable drivers and conductors. There are plenty of opportunities to get out and get some fresh air when the coach stops for comfort breaks, and there are refreshments (and a toilet) available on board. Plus, you get free Wi-Fi so you can keep in touch or just while away the hours surfing the net or playing games (a real necessity if you are travelling with your children).
If you travel during the day you can take advantage of being able to look at the beautiful scenery, which you miss when you are the driver of a car. Not having to worry about the traffic, diversions or map reading around an unfamiliar city is also a real benefit of travelling by coach.
If you plan to travel somewhere further afield than Paris, you can take a coach trip from London to Paris Charles de Gaulle and from there either fly or take a train to other parts of Europe or further away. This invariably means cheaper travel than flying direct from London, due to lower airport taxes and gives you far more options to choose from when planning your holiday. Most people think that it’s too much hassle to start their journey from somewhere other than their local airport, but when they look carefully at the prices and savings to be made they soon reconsider!
So this summer look out for iDBUS coach trips to Europe at incredibly low prices. But beware that the later you leave your booking the more expensive it can get. If you don’t like the idea of being pressured into booking in a hurry in case the prices rise, opt with iDBUS, whose prices do not change no matter how early or late you book your seats.
