Going abroad, no matter how long it takes to get to your destination, is usually very exciting. Seeing and experiencing a different country can help to broaden your horizons and make you feel relaxed and enthralled at the same time.
However, if you’re intent on boarding a long-haul flight to a different continent, you’ll expect more from your vacation because of the time taken to get there.
It’s possible to have a beach holiday on every continent – even your own, but a trip to a beach somewhere warmer and sunnier sounds much more fun, especially because it will help to keep your mind off what’s going on at home!
A long-haul flight might not seem like everyone’s idea of heaven, but if the destination’s good enough, the return journey is worth it.
Sun on the stateside shores
While Europe has plenty of good beaches, particularly in Spain, Portugal and Greece, they’re not quite as good as those found in the United States.
You might wonder why I feel this is the case, and what makes the beaches better than those on the other side of the Atlantic. As it happens, there are quite a few things which set beaches in the US apart from their European equivalents.
The sand on American beaches, especially those on the coast of Florida, tends to be finer and much easier on the feet. The beaches tend to be a little cleaner, and because of the state’s location, even in winter they tend to be pretty warm. Some beaches have proved to be extremely popular because of how pristine they look – here are some examples.
Caribbean a stone’s throw away
The Florida coastline beats European beaches hands down for views too. For example, from the southernmost point of the Florida Keys, you can get views of some of the Caribbean islands like Cuba and Jamaica, while the Keys themselves are home to tropical plants that you won’t find anywhere in Europe or elsewhere in the States.
The beaches of Florida are also within easy reach of cities like Miami and St Petersburg, not to mention attractions such as Universal Studios and Disneyland Florida. Both make a trip to the state worth it, especially if going with the family and you want to keep them entertained.
Holidays on the beaches of the USA tend to be a little more relaxed too. During the summer, the beaches in Europe tend to be heaving, and as a result, they’re not as fun as they may appear. The beach resorts in the States are more welcoming, leisurely and are, in some cases, in better condition too.
