A recent survey by HSBC has revealed the top expat destinations in the world. Their ‘Expat Explorer Economics’ results are based on several different factors such as expat’s levels of earnings, the disposable income available and the ability to amass luxury goods.
The top 10 expat hotspots are revealed as;
- Singapore
- Bermuda
- Thailand
- Hong Kong
- Cayman islands
- Mexico
- China
- Switzerland
- Bahrain
- Vietnam
Many surveyed cited the reasons for moving as wanting to earn more money, although salaries may not necessarily ne higher. There are also better life opportunities, experiences and overall lifestyles. Becoming an expat is an ideal opportunity to challenge and stretch yourself as both an individual and employee. Often the work-life balance is preferential and the standard of accommodation is better in terms on size and value. For example, swimming pools and help around the house is very common in many the countries listed above.
Combined with a new culture and very often a new language and etiquette system to learn, the expat life is not for everybody but for those prepared to fully immerse themselves in their cultural surrounding, the rewards are great.
