5 Ways to Make the Most of a Trip to France

  • March 8, 2013
  • Jules

France has long been a popular holiday destination and it is such a big and varied country that it offers something for everyone. Whether you are heading there for the first time or going back again after previous enjoyable trips you might like to consider these points.

Go Camping

One of the finest ways to see a lot of the country without spending a huge amount is to go camping. There are many quality sites and if you choose one like La Croix du Vieux Pont you are sure to be impressed by the range of activities you can choose from. There are sites all over the country, so whether you want to sample Brittany or take in the French Riviera you will find it easier this way. There are even sites which will leave you with a very short trip into Paris. A trusted website like www.eurocamp.co.uk will give you all the details you need.

See Paris

Since we just mentioned Paris it is definitely worth giving it a point of its own. This is one of the most incredible cities on the planet and somewhere you should plan on going to at least once. The only problem you might find is that there is so much to do that you don’t know how to fit it all in. Of course, if that is the case then you will just need to plan another trip there.

Learn Some Words

No one expects you to become fluent in French in order to take a short trip there but learning a few of the basic words will make your time in France a bit more pleasant. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to exchange some simple pleasantries with a local and to make yourself understood when you ask for something in a shop or restaurant.

Try the Food

France is famous for its food and if you go home without trying some then you are missing out on a great chance to get some extra pleasure from your holiday. The good news is that you don’t need to splash out a fortune on a fancy restaurant to do this. If you want to cook something yourself then you will find that the local bakeries and shops often have a delicious range of tempting goods.

Get Around

The best advice of all for anyone going to France is to get around and see as much of the country as possible. Those camping trips we looked at earlier make it easy to do this but you should make the effort no matter where you are staying. Hiring a bike or renting a car is a good decision but you might also like to just walk around the area you are staying in. Moreover, you can also cross over the border to Switzerland and take a paragliding flight with Verbier Summits to look back at the Mont Blanc mountain range – France’s highest mountains.

What about you? Would you be doing something different or quirky in France? Share your thoughts in the comment section!
