Bayfest 2012 in Mobile, AL, 5 October
The streets of downtown Mobile, Alabama will be bustling with 200,000 expected guests at Bayfest 2012. 125 live musical acts will be on nine stages October 5-7. The festival has gotten quite popular since its debut in 1995, and it is known for its wide variety of musical talent over the years. Performers this year include Bush, Journey, Buckcherry, Pretty Lights, Pat Benatar, My Darkest Days, Loverboy, Mimosa, and Al Green.
Virgin Mobile Free Fest in Columbia, MD, 6 October
On October 6, the Virgin Mobile Free Fest boasts a line-up featuring ZZ Top, Jack White, The Dismemberment Plan, Skrillex, and Ben Folds Five. The show takes place at the lush forest-like setting of the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Best of all, the entire line-up is free to see.
Austin City Limits 2012 in Austin, TX, 12 October
Zilker Park will host the 2012 Austin City Limits music festival on October 12-14. The 46-acre park will be the setting for over 130 musical acts. Guests include Neil Young and Crazy Horse, The Black Keys, The Afghan Whigs, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Florence + the Machine, The School of Rock, and much, much more. The event also has lots of activities for kids, as well as local food eateries and green goings-on.
City Arts Fest 2012 in Seattle, WA, 18 October
Downtown Seattle will become a playground for art and musical talent at the third annual Heineken City Arts Fest 2012 on October 18-20. Take part in secret art shows and see great art and music. The musical line-up includes Crystal Castles, Hot Bodies in Motion, School of Rock, and Built to Spill.
Voodoo Music Experience 2012 in New Orleans, LA, 26 October
On October 26-28, the City Park in New Orleans will be the site for the Voodoo Music Experience 2012. For twelve years, the music festival has been held on Halloween weekend and features many different styles of music. New Orleans’ diversity is represented in the line-up that includes Green Day, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Bootsy Collins, Thomas Dolby, Nervo, Sister Sparrow & the Dirty Birds, and 101 Runners.
Moogfest 2012 in Asheville, NC, 26 October
Moogfest6 2012 celebrates Robert Moog and his musical inventions that have changed music a great deal. On October 26-27, Robert Moog is celebrated in his hometown of Asheville, NC. His inventions, including the Moog guitar, the Mimimoog Voyager, and the Little Phatty, will be featured in the festival and played by his diverse guests. Musical guests include Primus, Santigold, Orbital, Nas, and Mouse on Mars.
The KISS Kruise in Miami, FL, 31 October
It just wouldn’t be Halloween without KISS, and on October 31, the KISS Navy will set forth on a musical cruise event. KISS is sure to be in full makeup, and they want their cruise guests to be as well. In addition to performances by KISS, the line-up includes Skid Row, Ledfoot Messiah, A Thousand Horses, Leogun, the Big Rock Show, and The No. 13s. The KISS Kruise sets sail from Halloween to November 4th.
