At last some good news for British travellers choosing to head to Europe this summer for a family holiday. The pound is now worth 11.5% more this summer than last summer, thanks to a 12 month high against the Euro. And if you fancy a European roadtrip, there’s great news on that front too as petrol costs around 10% lower than last summer.
The Top 3 cheapest European family beach resorts are…
The Post Office has just compiled its annual Family Holiday Report 2012 and its Beach Barometer measured common tourist item prices across 12 popular family beach resorts. Compiling costs of items such as a three course family meal, water park admission and toiletries such as sunscreen and insect repellent, the top 5 cheapest family beach destinations are;
1. Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
2. Costa del Sol, Spain
3. Marmaris, Turkey
And thanks to the pound strengthening against the euro, all travel items such as car hire, local hotels, souvenirs and dinner and drinks out will all be cheaper this summer, especially if you shop around and compare prices. Get savvy and you should end up spending less than last summer, follow our tips on how to save money on every trip you take.
Save money on a roadtrip adventure across Europe
Europe is your oyster this summer thanks to lower petrol and diesel prices than the UK. With the school holidays fast approaching, the next few months are a great opportunity to escape the weather, the Olympics (if you so choose) and head into Europe. Again a recent Post Office survey reveals the cheapest prices for fuel;
1. Andorra
2. Luxembourg
3. Spain (onto a double winner here)
4. Austria
5. Slovenia
So will it be a cultural exploration of Europe’s smallest state, Andorra or maybe a walking holiday in the forests, valleys and quaint villages of Luxembourg? Spain is a perennial favourite, especially as it features so heavily on both money saving lists. Or maybe you fancy somewhere completely different, whichever European destination you choose this summer, get out there and have a great time!
