PureTravel launch writing competition 2010 in association with Geographical Magazine

  • January 12, 2010
  • Jules

PureTravel are delighted to launch their 2010 writing competition and invite travelers from across the world to write and tell us about your travel moment. Was it the instant you turned a corner to a breath-taking view? Perhaps it was gasping at the glimpse of a rare animal on safari? Has your heart stopped when a shark appeared while diving, or sunk as you missed the last plane home?

In 350-500 words these travel bites are meant to capture a moment in time, an instant that is remembered after the rest of a holiday has faded away. They can be happy or sad, uplifting or frightening, funny or infuriating.

Entries should be sent by email with your name, email address and telephone number by 15th October 2010. All entries will be posted on the PureTravel website.

10 articles will then be selected by a panel and these pieces will be open for public voting on the website from the 20th October 2010 to the 17th November 2010.

Everybody who registers to vote will qualify for a special Geographical Magazine offer:

Your subscription will start with the next available issue.

The three most popular will then be judged by a professional Travel writer and the winner announced by November 24th 2010.

Competition Prizes
The winner will receive £1,000/US$ 1,500 to spend on a tour from one of PureTravel’s specialist operators. They will also receive £500/US$ 750 towards the flight.
Their winning article will also be published in “Geographical” magazine.

Examples of the many options include:
– A trip to Egypt, seeing the Pyramids as well as camping in the White Desert.
– A tour of Rajasthan, visiting Delhi, Agra and the Taj Mahal, Jaipur and the desert.
– Visit the north of Thailand, trekking to visit the local tribal peoples.
– A stay in a rainforest lodge in the rainforest of Borneo.

The nine short-listed runners-up will all receive a year’s subscription to “Geographical” magazine.

Entries will all be posted on the PureTravel website. Your name will be published with your article, please tell us if you wish to have this withheld. Please note that the email/phone number is for our use only and will not be published online.
