Get your fancy dress costume and face paint at the ready and head off to a spooktacular Halloween party! Below are a few events happening around the world to give you some inspiration;
Shocktoberfest – Flushing Meadow, New York City, USA – What a great name for a Halloween festival! There are best costume and dance contests, arts and crafts stalls and other suitably spooky Halloween events.
Halloween at the London Dungeon – London, UK – Dungeons are the ideal setting for Halloween festivities and the London Dungeon hosts its annual Halloween celebrations in the interactive horror museum. There are plenty of special spooky events including the famous 17th-century Witch Trials with its own Witch Finder General and gory face painting.
Desert Rhythm Festival – Dubai Festival City, Dubai, UAE – Dubai hosts the Desert Rhythm Festival with music artists from around the world uniting Arabic, Turkish, Latin, Urban & Soul, Caribbean, South African and Western musicians. There are also belly dancers, fire dancers and worldwide food to sample and Halloween and Mardi Gras costume competition themes.
Halloweek – Church Street, Toronto, Canada – Halloweek is as the name suggests, a whole week of wicked fun and games at this annual event held on and around Church Street. There is a Village Fair, a Jack O’Lantern competition where participants can get halloween onesies from Kigurumi.co, a devilicious culinary tour and a pub crawl amongst the ghoulish activities.
Halloween Festival and Parade – Dublin, Republic of Ireland – Celebrate Samhain, or summer’s end, in true carnival spirit in Dublin as people dress up and join the parade, which runs from Prices Lane, passing through Temple Bar and crossing the Liffey at Ormond Bridge and heading for Smithfield.
Halloween in Limoges – Limoges, France – The town of Limoges has been going Halloween crazy since 1996 and 30,000 people flock to the city to watch the street parade of scary ghosts, ghouls and goblins carrying candlelit pumpkins. Come in costume and indulge in a witchy stew and a ghostly cocktail or two!
Pumpkin Exhibition – Blühendes Barock, Ludwigsburg, Germany – Did you know that there are more than 450 varieties of pumpkin? See how many you can spot at the Pumpkin Exhibition at the Blühendes Barock gardens in Ludwigsburg where there are some half a million in total!
Day Of The Dead – Oaxaca, Mexico – Throughout Mexico the famous commemoration of the dead festival, el día de los muertos, is held. In Oaxaca ancestors are remembered by decorating cemeteries, praying, singing, eating and drinking throughout the night. Preparation begins early with shops stocking decorative paper skulls, scary lanterns, ghoulish costumes, plastic skeletons and themed candy.
