The difference between going to this location and go throughout nature is that you have guaranteed times in which you will see the orangutans up close and personal at the rehab center. The staff has set feeding times, so that those that come during these times are going to see the orangutans Borneo come out of the jungle to get their food.

Sipadan, Malaysia
There is also diving and snorkeling in the areas of Sipadan for travelers on holiday in Borneo and the sites are recommended for both novice divers as well as experienced divers. Most of those who do partake on this activity say that it is a once in a lifetime diving moment in which can be found anywhere else in the world. When in this area, for those that do not want to dive, there is also the Danum Valley Conservation Area that many visit in order to get closer to nature. There are jungles in Sipadan that are complete with a jungle hut for people to visit. Plus, within the same boundaries is the ancient burial ground of the area that many people visit in order to learn more about ancient civilizations.
Another must thing to do while travelling in Borneo is to visit the Monsopiad Cultural Village, which is not only a learning experience, but one that will stick with you for many years to come. The village is located a few minutes from Kota Kinabalu and Sipadan. The tribe that lives in this village was once headhunters, however, they are primarily surviving off of tourism and the land. There is still a hut that is dedicated to showing off the head bones, and other body bones that the warriors have managed to capture after many years. The descendants that are now maintaining the tribe are not headhunters themselves, they just come from a long line of those that were.

Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia
For those that are into extreme sports and adventure activities then a must visit area is Mount Kinabalu. This is the highest mountain in Borneo and Malaysia that is an ideal opportunity for hiking, trekking and climbing. To the top and back people can expect to spend a minimum of two days getting the obstacle completed. However, those that are slower, could take longer. The mountain is approximately 4,092 meters tall and should be an experience that the avid mountain climber will always remember. There is also white water rafting in the area as well for those that are looking for a thrill.

Sabah, Malaysian Borneo
Sabah is the second largest Malaysian state and is in the north east of Borneo. The capital of the state of Sabah is Kota Kinabalu and is named after Mount Kinabalu. Gomantung Cave is a place that many people visit when on Borneo tours. This cave is known to be one of the largest bird nests in the world as well as being the largest limestone cave in the country.
The city of Kota Kinabalu is often abbreviated to just KK both locally and to travelers visiting. KK is probably the most well known destination in Borneo and it is now a popular starting point for many travelers wishing to explore both Sabah and Borneo. The second largest city in Sabah, Sandakan, is also a popular choice.

Sarawak is the largest state in Malaysia and it is also one of the two states of Malaysia that make up the island of Borneo.
