Guide to the Camden Crawl Festival 2013

  • April 21, 2013
  • Jules

Anticipation is building for one of the finest music festivals around; the Camden Crawl Festival is making its second debut in Dublin Ireland from 3 to 5 May 2013.

This lively festival is held in both Dublin’s city center and also the London Borough of Camden (as you’d expect from the name!) However this year, London’s Camden Crawl has been delayed and will now be held in October as the UK festival season is already pretty congested. The Camden Crawl has been awarded the ‘best metropolitan festival’ accolade for the third time.

The event was launched in the 1990’s during the peak of Britpop and was an immediate success featuring a combination of fresh new sounds and the biggest bands around. It originally had five venues with approximately 20 performing artists. Today, the Camden Crawl Festival showcases 15 venues and over 150 artists and guests.

The Camden Crawl Festival is recognized as an event that embraces community spirit among fans, artists, new supporters and various music professions. During this remarkable two day experience there is great camaraderie between musicians, fans and everyone who attends.

The festival will start off with a bang on May 3rd at Whelans in Dublin. To kick off the event the acclaimed Dirty Beaches will be opening the show. This Minimalist and R&B band will also be celebrating their new album to be released in May. Continuing the festive night will be Meteor Choice Award nominees Big Deal and London’s Tropics. Moreover, the night’s event will feature a special guest to be announced later. Past special guests include big names like Squeeze, Amy Winehouse and Madness. So this is a night you do not want to miss.

The two day event in Dublin has already confirmed some of the lineup. This festival is sure to be an important showcasing affair for rising live artists. Just some of the many musicians include:

  • Friday evening includes: Dirty Beaches, Holy Other and The Black Lips
  • Saturday’s lineup includes: Echo and the Bunnymen,  Amateur Best, Cloud Castle Lake, The Pictish Trail, Sleep Thieves and We Were Evergreen
  • Sunday includes artists: The Altered Hours, Cian Nugent & the Cosmos, Hidden Highways, Mossy Nolan and White Collar Boy

Try and get a ticket if you can for this festival, which is strictly for adults over 18. Full lineup, details and information can be found on the official website.
