Shimla is like a wonderland for newly-wed couples as it lies snuggled in the majestic Himalayan Range. Besides being the capital, Shimla is the most visited place to see in Himachal Pradesh for a honeymoon. It is a bustling petite town perched on a hilltop, with enough quaint locations and spots where couples can enjoy their time clicking photos, visiting attractions, loving the mesmerising views of the mountains, and shopping at Mall Road.

Manali

Manikaran located in the Parvati Valley is a pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Sikhs and is a perfect example of religious diversity. Situated just 79 km away from Manali, it houses several temples, Gurudwara Manikaran Sahib, and hot springs that attract pilgrims and tourists alike. The hot springs contain sulphur, capable of curing diseases and are hot enough to prepare food by directly placing the vessels and serving as  langar.

Chail

Plan your honeymoon in Chail if you want to spend some quality time with your partner. It is popular for its tranquil unparalleled surroundings and lush scenery. This petite hill town is located just sixty km from Shimla and is a treat for the eyes with wonderful views of lush valleys, towering pine and oak trees, and snow-decked Himalayan ranges. It is fondly called “Lover’s Hill “.The Chail Palace is famous for its architecture and was built as a summer retreat by the Maharaja of Patiala during the British Raj. Chail Cricket Ground was built by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh who was a cricket enthusiast. Thus Chail boasts of the highest cricket ground in the world. The pitch was developed after levelling a huge hilltop. As it is perched at an elevation of 2,444 m above sea level, it is also used as a polo ground. Kali Temple here is a renowned religious spot also known for its breathtaking vistas and sceneries of Choor Chandni and Shivalik range, as well as for trekking trails. Situated at the top of a hill, Kali Ka Tibba is in reverence to Goddess Kali.

Shimla

Shimla known as the ‘Queen of Hill Stations” is known for its picture-perfect surroundings and chilling weather that fills the air with love. The Ridge located in the heart of Mall Road is a large open space that offers an excellent view of the Himalayan Mountain ranges that are immersed in the beauty of nature. The neo-gothic Christ Church, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi, the roofline of Gaiety Theatre, and the Town Hall are some of the important landmarks located on the Ridge. The Mall Road is the most popular tourist attraction in Shimla that enfolds many restaurants, hotels, shops, and tourist offices. Tourists can walk up and down Mall Road slowly enjoying scenic views of nature and sipping on their favourite coffee. It is connected to the Ridge at Scandal Point, where the statue of nationalist leader Lala Lajpat Rai has been installed. Jakhoo Temple is an ancient temple in reverence to Lord Hanuman and it is believed that the temple holds the footprints of Lord Hanuman. It is located on Jakhoo Hill which is two and a half km from the Ridge and offers beautiful scenic views of the Shivalik mountains and the neighbouring town of Sanjauli.Tattapani is famous for its hot water springs and is located nearly fifty-one km away from Shimla. Many tourists visit this spot to catch a glimpse of water spring and a Hindu Temple near Shiv Gufa at Saraur.

Dharamshala

Dharamshala is one of the most serene and scenic hill stations in India. Located in Kangra Valley, this city is at an elevation of 1457 m above sea level. It boasts of a distinctive blend of Tibetan and Kangra culture and serves as the holy abode of the Dalai Lama. Triund Hill is the crown of Dharamshala and is surrounded by Dhauladhar ranges on one side and rolling valleys that are ideal for trekking and enjoying picnics with breathtaking views. Dharamshala Cricket Stadium is one of the best places to visit in Dharamshala, it attracts visitors from near and far. Located at an elevation of about 1,500 m above sea level and hosts a variety of cricket matches. St John Church is another attraction on the list of places of interest. It is situated among the lush verdant deodar trails. The church is a fine example of the age-old architectural style of Gothics and has a notable feature in the form of Belgian stained glassed windows. The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives is one of the enlightening places to visit. It houses the most important Tibetan literature in existence. With artefacts and manuscripts dating back to the 12th century is a pioneering institute in studying and researching Buddhism. It houses around eighty thousand manuscripts and six hundred Buddhist artefacts including beautiful silk applique thangkas and a three-dimensional wood-carved mandala of the Avalokiteshwara -one of the most revered Bodhisattvas in Buddhism.
