If you are one of the millions of tourists who are planning to visit Thailand in 2023, you are probably heading for Phuket, the jewel in the south of the country that sits on the gorgeous Andaman Sea. This tropical paradise island has much to offer the tourist and we offer details on a few of the top attractions the island of Phuket has to offer.
- Hike to the Big Buddha – A superb 45-metre statue of Buddha in a seated position, this white marble monument is famous on the island, indeed, many Thais visit Nakkerd Hill, which is on the southern part of the island. It’s a steep walk and great if you’re into hiking and after you’ve admired the amazing views of Chalong Bay, while you can see Kata Beach to the south. It should be noted that although Big Buddha is not a temple, it does have religious value and you should dress conservatively when visiting any Buddhist site.
- Patong Beach – This is where the action is in the evening, with many attractive beach bars and cool evening entertainment venues where you can listen to great music and enjoy a few cocktails overlooking the Andaman Sea. Book a suite at the Novotel resort near Patong Beach, Phuket and you are in the best location.
- Promthep Cape sunset – If you are visiting Phuket, you simply must spend a few hours at Promthep Cape and watch the amazing sunset. Located at the far south of the island, this is a popular spot for romantics, with couples arriving at 5:30 pm to watch the sun go down. You can take some Instagram-worthy shots in the fading light.
- Baan Dteelanka – This is Thai for ‘upside down house’ and at first sight, it makes you wonder if you’re seeing things! The designer must have had a hard time making the calculations for such a build; enjoy great coffee and get some photos standing outside the house. There is a big garden maze to entertain you after you have toured the house (upside down), which the kids really love. Click here for tropical beach destinations in 2023.
- Andamanda Water Park – Without a doubt, the best water park in Thailand, Andamanda Water Park is located between Phuket Town and Patong Beach; a 100,000 sqm area with more than 25 attractions that include slides, wave makers and an attractive river. This is the ideal family day out; check their website for more details. Opening times are between 10 am and 7 pm and ticket prices are reasonable when you consider the attractions within the venue.
