3 Tips for Successful Recruitment for International Businesses

  • March 1, 2023
  • Jules

Running your own business with international connections and worldwide travel can be a stressful endeavour – although the draw of frequent travel is certainly a great reason to persevere.

One of the best ways to ensure your success is to grow a strong team that you can rely on to keep things running across various business locations. This is a good mindset to get into, regardless of the size of your operation. After all, just because you’re a small business now, there’s no reason to plan for future expansion.

If you’re currently planning to hire workers from across the globe, or simply dreaming of the day when your international business reaches the size and scope to recruit, then here are just three tips for making international recruitment easier than ever.

1) Get Smart with Skills

Finding the right skills when building your team is essential, even if you run a small, local business. It’s also crucial to define skill issue early in the recruitment process and recruitment chatbot. This will help you identify potential gaps and ensure your team can effectively support your business goals as you expand internationally.

However, when you’re recruiting and expanding internationally, there are certain skills that can be more beneficial than others.

For example, multilingual employees can be incredibly useful when it comes to communicating with both head office and local customers, particularly if your native language is different to the country in which you’re looking to expand.

However, you should never rule a potential employee out just because they don’t have the language skills you’re looking for. If you find the perfect person for the job, consider offering to pay for language training with services such as Rosetta Stone.

2) Utilise Recruitment Software

Recruiting can be a time-consuming task, particularly if you’re used to the traditional hiring process with in-person interviews.

However, if you’re looking to recruit internationally, then consider using virtual recruitment software such as Oleeo. With Oleeo you can automate as much of the recruitment process as you like, from filtering out CVs to scheduling virtual interviews.

The use of a recruitment chatbot is also ideal for larger companies who need to engage in high volume hiring, that way you can fill a large number of vacancies without the need to meticulously search through hundreds of resumes.

3) Take to Social Media

Social media is an increasingly useful tool for brands looking to advertise, but it’s also a great way for companies looking to advertise job vacancies.

According to LinkedIn, in 2020 nearly 40 million people a week took to the platform with the specific goal of finding a new job, making this a great place to start making your vacancies known.

However, LinkedIn isn’t the only social media platform that can help you find the perfect candidates. There’s an increasing popularity in platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, particularly with younger users who are preparing to embark on careers.

So, it’s time to get creative when advertising your vacancies. Of course, while you shouldn’t abandon the job boards altogether, make sure to utilise a variety of different platforms as social media will give you a much wider international audience.
