How to Get a Discount on Train Tickets when Travelling between Manchester and London

  • January 30, 2023
  • Jules

The train between Manchester and London is one of the most popular routes in the country. With some of the cheapest fares and no additional charges, it makes sense to travel by train when you want to save money on your trip.

You can save up to 30% on your train ticket between Manchester and London if you book at least six weeks before travelling. This is because there are several seats available on each train and they fill up quickly. You can also get a discount if you book online rather than over the phone or by booking through a third party website such as Expedia or Ebay. You can even consider Rail Online – Train from London to Manchester for booking early.

Saver Fare

Check if there is a saver fare available for your journey. This could cut the travelling cost significantly. If you’re travelling from one city to another, you can often save money by booking through an online travel agency like Trenitalia or Rail Europe. You can also book online at www.nationalrail.co.uk, which has a variety of deals available for all train companies in Britain, including Southeastern and Northern Railways.

In order to get the best deal possible, it’s important that you book early! If you’re thinking about taking a train from Manchester to London in 2018, then now is definitely the time to book as there are plenty of deals available at this time of year.

If you book early enough, you can get an offer like this:

50% off all fares for bookings made before 2pm on Tuesdays or Sundays (instead of the normal 50% off). This applies only to tickets bought from www.nationalrail.co.uk, so you’ll need to search for trains from Manchester to London by checking the route on their site. You’ll also need a valid debit card and a National Rail account to use this offer – so check that you have these before booking!

Other offers include 25% off all fares for bookings made between 10am and midnight on Fridays during certain periods (between April and October), or 20% off all fares for bookings made between 10am and 5pm on Tuesdays during certain periods (between April and October).

Offpeak advantage

Book early for off-peak trains, especially ones that include long distance journeys such as Manchester to London or Liverpool to Manchester or Birmingham to London. There’s usually no problem in booking tickets up to six months in advance, so if you’re planning on travelling during peak times (7-9AM) then it might be worth waiting until those times have passed and then booking through an agency with good customer service who will be able to sort out any problems quickly and easily (such as National Rail).

The most obvious way of saving money on train tickets is to book them in advance. This will ensure that you’re not paying any hidden fees at the station or on board the train.
