Bermuda Holidays – Tours & Adventure Travel Guide

PureTravel Says
“The Bermuda Islands are a tropical paradise destination. Bermuda is a string of over a hundred coral isles just off the southeast coast of North Carolina and has great year round weather. The beautiful coral reefs, the miles of soft beaches and the friendly and relaxed atmosphere will allow you to enjoy a true getaway. Visit the capital, Hamilton and also St. George’s and view the fascinating historic sights. Bermuda has an abundance of parks and forts such as the Botanical Gardens and Fort St. Catherine the queen of forts among the 90 other forts. Visit the Royal Naval Dockyard, Snorkel Park and see the underground jewels of Bermuda at Crystal Cave and Fantasy Cave. Sail in Hamilton Harbour and find adventure snorkeling at Warwick Long Bay.”

Bermuda Holiday Highlights

History & Culture – The oldest British colony, Bermuda has many elements of this culture and of the British customs all around the island. Dating back to 1612, St. Peter's Church is a famous landmark. You will get a feel of the maritime history of this region in The Maritime Museum. On Ordnance Island, you can view the statue of Sir George Somers. He survived a shipwreck here and is considered the founder of Bermuda. Close by, you will want to tour the small ship, Deliverance, a replica of one of the ships that was built by the Somers’ group so they could continue to Jamestown.

Sightseeing – Visit the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo, with displays of animals and sea life from all over the world with interactive programs for all the family. Visit the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute where you will learn about underwater exploration. Have a picnic near the Botanical Gardens or at Fort St. Catherine and then press on to spectacular sights of Crystal Cave and Fantasy Cave.

Nightlife – Many hotels offer live entertainment so you can relax and enjoy the music and food at the nightclubs and bars around the island.

Cycling – Bicycles roamed throughout Bermuda long before cars were allowed on the island. Cycling is a very popular pastime here and you can get some wonderful views of the ocean and lush gardens. Bermuda Railway Trail is a perfect trail to ride, and you can get a guided tour or take off on your own. Stop along the way and visit Fort Scaur or cool off in the blue waters at any one of nine beaches here.

Water Sports – Explore the southern coast with its old shipwrecks and ancient remnants. Sail the waters near the Warwick and Paget side of the harbor. Try some deep-sea fishing and take part in windsurfing or water skiing around Hamilton Harbor. Horseshoe Bay, Chaplin and Stonehole have some lovely pink sand beaches to relax on.

When To Go

Bermuda is a year round destination and the popular season is from March to November, when temperatures are around 75-80F. Summer and autumn may see rain but the showers don’t last long and shouldn’t interrupt your activities.

Top Tips

- On Bermuda, there is no sales tax.

- Take a ferry trip from Hamilton Harbor and cruise the Great Sound.
- Visit the underground tunnels at Fort Hamilton and then climb the ramparts for a fabulous view of Hamilton.
- Don’t miss the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute for some interesting deep-ocean ecology exhibits.
