The New York Sights You Need to See

  • April 30, 2018
  • admin

New York – a huge metropolis on the East Coast of the U.S. With parks, shops, shows, and people from all walks of life, it’s no wonder that this is one of the most popular destinations for tourists. So where’s the best place to go visit if you’re making a trip there? There’s almost too much to choose from, but we’ve chosen the best five to make your choices easier. We’ve also skipped out on the really obvious stuff, hoping that you can enjoy yourself by going a little bit off-trail.

Rockefeller Centre

This building is one of the most famous buildings in New York City. It’s one of the older towering skyscrapers, but what’s better is that you can go up to the observation deck. Sure, you can do that in the Empire State building, but you only get to see the skyline of New York including the Empire State Building from here! What’s more, the queue tends to be shorter, too. It’s not to be missed!

The High Line

New York is a really built-up city, and green space can be missed sometimes. The city took the chance to use a disused railway that in times gone past would transport goods into the city. Now abandoned, they turned it into a long park sitting 30 feet above the street. You can get lovely views of the river and city, and enjoy a breath of fresh air above the traffic. It’s a highly unusual place, with attractions like this not being found in every city!

Museum of Modern Art

This museum is famous around the world for its stunning collections. It’s home to works by Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and hundreds of either renowned artists who were important in the movement of modern art. It also has a number of exhibitions and events running throughout the year, so it would be a perfect opportunity to try something new.

Coney Island

Coney Island is in Brooklyn, and it’s known for being a bit weird and wonderful. Becoming a summer hotspot for entertainment and fun, there are shows and a fairground for all who visit. With rollercoasters to try, and quirky and ridiculous events like a 4th of July hot dog eating contest, this is somewhere you should make a point to visit if you’re there for summer!

Central Park Zoo

This zoo is teeny-tiny, and you can find it within Central Park. Hidden away just to the side of the park, you can walk there and take a breather from the buildings in the city. Besides, it’s something interesting and a bit different to be able to see the zoo even when you’re in the middle of a bustling metropolis!

Brooklyn Botanic Garden

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden was first opened in 1910, and has been giving local residents and visitors alike a great taste of specialty gardens. From rare plant collections, a bonsai museum, and climate-themed pavilions, this garden has all sorts of wonderful plants to entertain you on your visit. As one of New York’s specialist parks, you can enjoy the outdoors or just admire the hard work that people put into growing all sorts of trees and flowers. Plus, it’s a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city.
