Indian Animals You May Be Fortunate Enough to See on an Adventure Holiday

  • April 27, 2017
  • admin

For those seeking adventure on their holiday, you cannot go wrong with India. This vast, beautiful, colourful and cultural country has an incredible amount to offer any visitor whether you are experiencing the hustle and bustle of the major cities or going off the beaten path for a unique experience. This is also a country that is home to many incredible animals that you might just be lucky enough to see in their natural habitat. Here are a few majestic Indian animals to keep your eyes peeled for.

Bengal and Indochinese Tigers

There is nothing quite like seeing a tiger in its natural habitat. These stunning creatures are class-A predators, but equally beautiful and they are also sadly endangered. The best (and safest) way to see Bengal tigers and Indochinese tigers in India is with a wildlife safari tour through India’s Kipling Country.

Asian Elephant

The largest living land animal in all of Asia, the Asian Elephant is a marvellous creature that is also endangered. They appear similar to African elephants but are slightly smaller and have smaller ears, plus a large percentage of males are tuskless.

Indian Lion

Gujarat in western India is sometimes called the “Jewel of Western India” due to its amazing natural surroundings. It is also home to the Indian Lion, which lives as a single population here. They have a very small population size because of this, making them that little bit more special when you see one.

Lion Tailed Macaque

Found in south-west India, these cute and impressive macaques can only be found in the mountain forests that are found throughout across the states of Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Indian Leopard

Leopards are breathtaking creatures due to their incredible agility and there is nothing like seeing them in their natural habitat. The Indian leopard is widespread throughout India and found in both thick forests and open country. Head to any of the National Parks to see one for yourself.

Great Indian Rhinoceros

An impressive beast that can only be seen in the grasslands and forests in the foothills of the Himalayas, the Great Indian Rhinoceros is the heaviest land animal aside from the elephant. Although endangered, India has managed to improve the population from less than 200 through to over 2,000 through conservation and strict protection.

The beautiful country of India is home to many beautiful animals and seeing these in their natural habitat is always a magical experience. These are just a few of the creatures that you could see when you head into the vast countryside and explore.
