How to Make the Most Out of Your Ski Vacation?

  • November 20, 2015

School ski trips are not just for the students; educators should have a go at the slopes too! For the teacher asking themselves how to make the most out of a ski vacation, there are a number of answers out there. One that makes the most sense is to find an inexpensive, vetted agency which specialises in school ski trips across the country and continent. It should not be difficult to find a service which organises trips throughout Europe. So following are some prime indicators of proper teacher ski trip services. These will identify whether an organisation is good for you and your students, or just a profiteer of some calibre.

First and foremost, the adroit educator will look for a service offering ski trips that has the kind which are all-inclusive. That is: travel, lodging, amenities, etcetera. It is very difficult to find a ski trip service that is all inclusive, which does not also have a lot of experience to bring to the table. So keep an eye out for that as well.

Look for an organisation facilitating school trips that is part of the Adaptable Group. This means they’ll probably be either ATOL or ABTA bonded, and perhaps even an established member of the STF, or School Travel Forum. This kind of organisation is going to have a respectable safety management system which is designed to ensure teacher and students have a safe, financially realistic trip. That safety includes traveling; so be sure the organization chosen has taken that into account as well. It’s no good staying safe on the slope if the gyro-copter commissioned to deliver everybody explodes on the launchpad. Here’s generally a good tip: if an organisation is offering to take a school group to a ski-slope aboard a gyro-copter, don’t trust that organisation!

Look for an organisation that has specifically picked resorts commensurate to the needs of an educational institution. It’s no good if the whole class arrives at some establishment geared at a more “Adult” level of entertainment. Furthermore, if there are no “nursery” or “beginner” slopes, some of the students and even educators along for the outing will definitely feel left out, and this contributes to difficult relationships later on. So when asking how to make the most out of a ski vacation, it’s essential to take into account the sorts of skiing opportunities that will be provided by a given agency. If those opportunities don’t include slopes to fit any member of the group which will be traveling, then it’s best to find another resort.

Secure financing of the trip is also absolutely integral. That’s why it makes sense to look for a group that deals with large numbers of students on these kinds of trips. The sweet spot is above 10,000. Any organisation that’s dealing with over 10,000 UK pupils on the yearly will necessarily have more affordable packages available, as their infrastructure makes such a thing almost a collateral expectation. The larger the organisation, the more they can afford to undercut their competition. Furthermore, under ‘The Package Travel, Package Holidays, and Package Tour Regulations’ of 1992, any such organisation is required to give potential customers evidence of the security in assets paid for services. Look for an organisation that has been organised to meet such legal requirements.

Ski Adaptable is such an organisation, and has been providing trips throughout Europe for a long time. For a secure trip that will see to the needs of all students, as well as teachers on the ski trips, one of the best options that can be acquired is definitely Ski Adaptable.
