Destination Wedding Plans: Where to Put Your Guests

  • September 4, 2015

Planning a destination wedding can be in some ways far less stressful than an at home one – there is usually far less you actually have to worry about, and a lot of things will be done for you at your destination. However, you do also have to think about a lot of stuff that brides getting married closer to home do not. One such problem, is what to do about keeping your friends and family who have joined you for your wedding occupied and accommodated, without them getting in the way of your special alone time as newlyweds (or ‘about-to-be-weds).

You have a few options when it comes to accommodation for guests at your destination, so let’s take a look at what you could do:

Have Everybody at the Same Resort

One option you have, if you are getting married at an all inclusive resort, is to have everybody stay there with you. Resorts tend to have enough going on that guests will be able to keep themselves occupied easily with various included activities, and meals and drinks are all taken care of. This will mean that when you choose to spend your time with your guests, perhaps on the beach or partying in the evening, everybody will be together, but there is enough independence for everybody to find their own ways to enjoy the vacation around the wedding, allowing you and your groom to spend some good ‘honeymoon time’ together doing your own things, and also allowing you to keep everybody, including guests of different generations or those who don’t know each other very well, happy.

Stay All Together in a Luxury Villa

One of the ways you can have a beautiful and memorable destination wedding while keeping costs down for your guests is for your whole wedding party to share a luxury villa. This can be much cheaper than everybody getting their own rooms at a resort, and if you are a very close group and you want to share all your meals and the moments in the run up to your wedding with everybody, sharing a luxury villa can be a wonderful way to get the experience you want.

Separate Accommodation

If your guests are from different families, generations, or you just can’t see them wanting to hang out together for the entire duration of the wedding vacation, then it can be best to let everyone choose and arrange their own accommodation at the same destination, and arrange things like meals together on the fly when you are there. Remember that attending your wedding may well be their vacation for this year, and so letting them plan to use the time they are not at the wedding or with you in the way they would on their own normal vacation may be welcome.

It’s down to you to decide which way of arranging accommodation is best – whether you feel everyone should be together, or left to their own devices. However you feel about it though, you do have options!
