  • August 18, 2015

Barcelona is one of the coolest cities on the planet. There are so many great things to do in this fun, vibrant city, from taking a romantic stroll through the Barri Gòtic to sinking cocktails in the Passeig del Born’s bars. Here are seven cool reasons why you should go to Barcelona.

1) A Chill Place To Go

The Ice Bar has to be the coolest bar in Barcelona. It maybe warm and sunny outside on the beach, but inside the bar it’s always -5ºC. Don’t worry you’ll be provided with a hat and gloves. If you like your vodka ice cold then this is the place for you. It’s just so damn cool here!

2) Take A Donkey Ride Around Town

The Steel Donkey Bike Tours are a fantastic way to see the parts of the city that you won’t find on the traditional tourist routes. The tours will take you to El Borne, Gracia or Poblenou, where you will see such stunning sights as the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau. It’s the best alternative way to see the city!

3) Flea The Crowds!

You don’t have to be David Dickinson to find a great bargain at Els Encants. It’s the biggest and best flea market in Barcelona. The old saying “there’s gold in them hills” has never been more appropriate as you’re bound to find a few gems here. But be prepared to barter hard for your bargains!

4) Walk With The Dead

The Montjuïc Cemetery is a vast necropolis that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea.

A tour of this vast city of the dead will walk you through some of the most stunning and eerie funerary artwork you will ever see. There are even night tours for the more fearless. This is a dead cool place to visit!

5) Lose Yourself In A Labyrinth

The Parc del Labirint in Horta is a great place to lose yourself and the crowds.

At the centre of the park is a spectacular, labyrinthine maze. Any fans of Pan’s Labyrinth will love this place. Located well outside the tourist trap, it’s a great way to cut down on your porklife and get some parklife!

6) Raval In Street Art

A tour through the back streets and alleys of Raval will take you into an urban world where street art has literally left its mark. If you’re a B-Boy at heart, you will love the vast array of graffiti art on display. You will get to see some of the best artwork in Barcelona, not found in a museum!

7) Get Gaudí

Barcelona’s architecture is second to none. If you’ve never heard of Antoni Gaudí you will have once you’ve visited this beautiful city, as around every corner you will find his architectural influence. The most famous examples of his work are the La Pedrera, Park Güell and Sagrada Família. The best way to experience them is on foot with a guidebook in hand!

So if you’re looking for a cool break then Barcelona is definitely the destination for you. You’ll find lots of cool holiday apartments in Barcelona to stay in and things to see and do. So what are you waiting for? Head to Barcelona before it becomes too cool to go!
