5 Incredible things to do in Delhi-Gurgaon

  • June 8, 2015
  • admin

Delhi is an assimilation of art, history, culture, life, modernity, temples, museums, and architectural wonders — the city always has a surprise tucked in somewhere around that next corner. There are a number of 5-star accommodations near Delhi airport to make sure you’ve rejuvenated enough before you set out to experience these incredible sites. Some of the luxury hotels in Delhi like the Taj Mahal Hotel and Hyatt are considered the best in the country.

Enjoy a Hike in the Aravali Ranges

The Aravali range surrounds the whole of Gurgaon, letting you breathe in some fresh air in the Aravali Biodiversity Park. The park has a wide variety of flora and fauna. There is a 4-km long track for the pleasure of cycling, a 3.5-km track for joggers, and a massive amphitheatre of about 500 seating capacity that regularly organizes many Social events. Many Gurgaon resorts are easily accessible such as The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake Gurgaon which is part of The Taj Group of Hotels, the first Gateway Resort in India.

While the whole of Delhi seems like a buzzing museum of history and culture, the National Museum of New Delhi has some unique collection of art. There are over 200,000 individual pieces of impressive art!

You’ll find a compelling account of India’s last 5000 years in the collected artworks, sculptures, and archaeological findings. Some of the exhibits include rare relics of the Harappan Civilisation, Buddha’s 4th to 5th century BC effects, and Silk Route antiquities among a variety of other items.

You’ll also find the Archaeological Survey of India close to the National Museum. It stocks publications on India’s major archaeological sites and findings.

A Lake: a Healer

Sohna Lake must be in the itinerary especially of those travelers staying in one of the many Gurgaon hotels. The small town gets its name from gold dust found in the sand of streams near the lake. It is believed that the hot Sulphur spring of Sohna is a strong disinfectant for skin disease.

After all, it is not every day that you can get access to the most revered residence in Lutyens’ Delhi.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan is the seat of residence for the President of India. Among the many ceremonies here, the Changing of Guard remains a relatively unknown attraction. You can witness this every Saturday morning on the forecourt of the Presidential residence that can seat 200 guests. President’s Body Guard also carries out an equestrian display, with horses in their full regalia. Rashtrapati Bhavan is usually restricted, so if you are there then make sure to use this fantastic opportunity and witness not just a glorious Presidential ceremony, but marvel the architecture of this immense building in the heart of Lutyens’ Delhi.

A Temple that’s an Architectural Wonder

Akshardham Temple, near the Delhi-Noida border, a Hindu temple built in 2005, is an architectural marvel. It is one of those experiences that you wouldn’t want to miss at any cost. Akshardham boasts of elaborate architecture, huge courtyards and temple art and showcases the laborious amount of perfect detailing and decoration in every inch of its area.

The interior of the temple highlights remarkable and unimaginable amount of laborious craftsmanship. The sculptures, in their intricate detailing, will stop you at every step. At night, the whole complex is a must-see as it glitters with beautiful lighting.
