5 of the best Spanish destinations for a motorhome holiday

  • May 5, 2015
  • admin

Following on from our list of some of the most exciting and beautiful places to take a motorhome holiday in the UK, we move across into Europe, focussing on Spain. There are plenty of campsites all over Spain and as you’re self-contained you’re never far away from your home comforts. Take a look at our pick of top sights in Spain to stop and discover as you tour this beautiful, historic country.

Seville

Sunny Seville is a must-see for so many reasons. Pretty and cosmopolitan with a laid-back traditional vibe, it’s best known for its delicious oranges which you can see growing all over the town and in huge farms in the surrounding area. You can stay on the outskirts of Seville in one of these orange-growing communities for a truly traditional experience.

Andalucía

Often overlooked, the rural charm of Andalucía can best be appreciated by hitting the road and exploring the quaint villages and farms of this rustic landscape. Stop at farms and roadside restaurants, and explore beautifully-painted tiny churches and villages where time appears to have stood still. You’re still close to the coast too if you fancy heading down to spend some time at the beach.

Corunna

Northern city Corunna is famously home to the Roman ‘Tower of Hercules’ – a magnificent lighthouse which remarkably is still in use today. From here, you can explore the surrounding area at the North-Westerly tip of the country – filled with antiquities and scenery which isn’t often seen by tourists.

Belchite

Close to the town of Zaragoza and just an hour or so away from enchanting Barcelona, haunting Belchite is a must-see for any history buffs searching for a unique slice of Spanish history. The town was sieged during the Spanish Civil War, and has lain a ghost town ever since as a memorial.

Juscar

This pretty little village in sky-blue nestling in the hillside above Marbella was originally painted to promote the release of The Smurfs movie in 2011. However since that time the locals decided they loved the colour – and it’s made for an interesting addition to the surrounding countryside.
