Having your credit rating checked could prevent you from missing out on the holiday of your dreams

Some of the best holiday deals around are last-minute offers from travel agents and major airlines. But it can be frustrating if you simply don’t have the spare cash to secure your dream break before an offer comes to an end. However, checking your credit rating with Experian CreditExpert the next time you notice an unmissable holiday bargain could keep your dream alive.

While researching your current credit rating may not be the first thing on your mind when you’re dreaming about sun-kissed beaches or mountainside ski slopes, it could be the key to securing an affordable break. With better access to credit, you may be in a position to snap up holiday offers as and when they arise. A free credit score search could help you to strengthen your credit rating and secure the funds you need for your dream holiday.

Understanding your credit worthiness is the first step to ensuring you get the affordable credit you need when it’s time to book the holiday of your dreams. Whether you need to settle outstanding issues or have information removed from your credit file, even the slightest improvement in your rating could be enough to secure loans at more favourable interest rates.

Your ability to obtain credit doesn’t just relate to raising funds for holidays, however. Your credit rating will dictate whether or not you can obtain a mortgage, buy that new car you have always dreamed about or obtain credit cards. Even if you can secure such purchases, an unfavourable credit score could mean you end up paying above-average rates of interest for the privilege.

Experian is the largest credit agency in the UK, and they are currently giving people the chance to check their credit history. Even the smallest of issues – including a late payment or a disputed charge – could have detrimental effects on your ability to secure the loan you need. But with a credit check from Experian CreditExpert, you don’t need to let a late credit card payment from several years ago jeopardise a much-needed break.

You may find that refused loan applications or unreasonably high rates of interest occur through no fault of your own. Identity fraud is a major problem in the UK, and it can mean significant amounts of credit are recorded in your name without you ever knowing it. By regularly checking your own credit status, you can flag these issues before they scupper your chances of securing the holiday bargain of a lifetime.

Before you start your search for your next holiday, it may be a good idea to ascertain your current credit rating. Experian allows you to monitor your current commitments, assess your historic credit information and view any credit applications made in your name. So, when you apply for your holiday loan, you can be reasonably certain about the chances of being accepted.

A holiday is an exciting prospect for anyone. However, problems obtaining credit can lead to immense disappointment if a great deal slips through your fingers because you simply can’t find the cash in time. By using Experian to check your credit status in advance, you can make sure your finances are in place when you finally find the holiday of your dreams.
