If you’re taking a holiday this spring I have great news for you – prices have fallen across three quarters of the destinations surveyed. These are the cheapest destinations for spring 2014 – get out there…
A total of 44 popular destinations across the world were surveyed as part of the Post Office’s well-respected Worldwide Holiday Costs Barometer. And the positive news is that the current strength of sterling makes for some superb bargains this spring for British travellers.
The report compares the costs of eight typical tourist items – a three course dinner, suncream and various beverages – and throws up some interesting facts!
For instance the Portuguese Algarve is now cheaper than perennial family favourite, the Spanish Costa del Sol, thanks to some seriously tempting offers in the Algarve right now. And whilst Sri Lanka and Spain were the cheapest destinations throughout last year, there a new kid on the block for spring 2014; Bali. Not only does the paradise isle boast gorgeous beaches, fascinating culture and a real laidback vice, but it’s also now that much more affordable. And if you’re looking for a spot slightly closer to home, check out Marmaris in Turkey where sterling is currently riding high against the lira, making the pretty resort around a fifth cheaper than this time last year!
