Presenter and writer Paul O’Grady travels to South Africa in his new TV series Animal Orphans, which will air on ITV on Tuesday 14 January 2014 at 9pm.
Paul is well known for his love of animals, fronting the emotional For The Love Of Dogs on ITV, where he immerses himself in the day to day escapades at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home in London.
In the new Animal Orphans series, Paul journeys to South Africa and Zambia to meet animals that have been orphaned in the wild – such as baby elephants affected by rampant poaching. He helps to hand rear animals such as baboons, hippos, lions and rhinos, in order to release them back into the wild.
The three part series continues ITV’s commitment to engaging wildlife, nature and conservation TV programmes, following the hugely popular African Poaching Wars fronted by Tom Hardy, which was screened last August.
Paul’s love of wildlife is legendary – when filming the documentary For the Love of Dogs, he ended up staying on as an animal volunteer at Battersea for 6 months. He also added Eddy, a rescued Jack Russell-Chihuahua cross to his already large brood of dogs.
