European Holiday Hot Spots

  • October 23, 2013
  • Jules

When choosing a destination for your much anticipated holiday, you may be a little overwhelmed by choice. With up to 196 countries in the whole world, it’s safe to say you’re spoilt for choice, and making that choice can be slightly difficult.

However, with an array of beautiful and fascinating countries right on your geological doorstep, narrowing your choice down to ‘somewhere in Europe’ can be a good place to start for both your sanity and your budget.

And Europe is more accessible than ever. With innovative companies like www.coachholidays.com showing that regardless of whether you are flying or taking a coach trip, you will soon find your dream holiday.

Here’s a list of some of the greats that Europe has to offer, to suit a range of budgets, tastes and holiday groups.

Paris

Dubbed as the ‘romance capital of the world’, Paris is often a first choice for couples worldwide. But whether you’re travelling as a couple or not, you’re sure to fall in love with France’s capital city regardless. With an array of attractions from the Eiffel Tower to the Louvre, there’s something to tantalise your cultural taste buds on every corner.

Milan

A fantastic alternative to Italy’s capital city, Milan is a must for fashion lovers. A delightfully cosmopolitan city, Milan is famous throughout the world for fashion and design. However, with its historic culture in terms of music and architecture, it’s clear to see that Milan boasts substance along with its legendary style.

Bruges

Strolling down Belgium’s multitude of canals, it’s clear to see why it landed its reputation as ‘The Venice of the North’. Due to the beautiful, historic architecture and World Heritage Sites, a break in Bruges will be like taking a trip down memory lane.

Budapest

Hungary’s capital is a great choice for groups, families or generally anyone who is looking for something a bit more diverse. Three cities united in 1873 to form the Budapest we know today, offering something for everyone from incredible Celtic and Roman ruins, the inspirational Danube River, and government and commercial districts.

Munich

Located in the south of Germany, Munich provides its visitor with an array of activities to experience a taste of Germany with a twist. Whether it’s the BMW Headquarters, the wide range of galleries and museums or the national parks that takes your fancy, there’s plenty to keep you stimulated in this alternative city.

Vienna

A great choice for music lovers, especially those who appreciate the classical genre, Vienna is home to an Arts-Quarter that holds world-class museums and galleries. A good insider tip is to focus your visit around the ‘historic centre’ for a true glimpse of the antiquity of Vienna’s Old Town, especially for fans of architecture.

Barcelona

Not just home to a world-class football team, Barcelona has fantastic things to offer a holiday maker. A city that truly incorporates its traditional roots in terms of its urban Roman remains and medieval districts, it also pays homage to the modern era, with 20th century avant-garde art at every twist and turn. Barcelona’s Mediterranean is also a major plus for those wanting a break with some guaranteed sun.

Dublin

Just across the pond, Dublin is not one to be forgotten. With journeys often being less than an hour from most places in the UK, Ireland’s capital is the perfect choice for those who can’t wait to get their holiday started. Alive with energy, Dublin won‘t disappoint in terms of atmosphere thanks to its lively bars, pubs and restaurants. There are also great factories to tour for the budding drinks connoisseurs, such as the Guinness Factory and the Jameson Factory.
