The sun might have stopped shining back home, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still grab a few rays on holiday. Instead of complaining about the miserable British weather, why not see if there are any last minute bargains in the Mediterranean sunshine?
Travel association, ABTA, has reminded customers that there are plenty of Mediterranean holiday hotspots still getting plenty of warm sunny weather.
With September marking the end of the peak season, now is the time to get that much-needed family holiday.
Quieter resorts
Most family holidays are taken in July and August when the kids are off school, but if you can steal two weeks in September you could benefit from a much more relaxing break. Forget about having to sneak out in the morning to bag a sun bed or fight through the crowds at the breakfast buffet – holidaying in September is much quieter, while still having the benefit of summer weather.
Good weather
Moving onto one of the main reasons that millions of British holidaymakers flock to the Mediterranean each year – the weather! According to ABTA, the weather is still going to be in the mid-20s to 30s across Europe for most of September.
If France is usually your destination of choice, you’ll benefit from 25°C, but head to Cyprus, Greece, Spain or Italy for temperatures in the 30s. If that’s not good enough for you, a bit further over in the popular Sharm El Sheik resort, in Egypt, it’s set to soar to 43°C next week.
Compare that to family holidays UK style, where temperatures are set to remain below 20°C and closer to the mid-teens – it’s a no-brainer.
So, grab a bargain and start packing that suitcase!
Activities
Many places close down for the quiet winter period, but by travelling in September and October, you’ll be able to sneak in before everywhere shuts.
Whether you like the idea of exploring the local culture or hitting the watersports on the beach, everything will still be available on your late summer holiday.
It might feel like summer is well and truly over, with thoughts turning to Christmas, but if you’re lucky enough to grab a bargain break to the Med, you’ll be able to enjoy another few weeks of glorious sunshine.
