Enjoy Halloween Family Fun in Orlando

  • August 22, 2013

Prepare yourself for some suitably ghoulish and eerie fun this Halloween, as Orlando’s themeparks go all out to scare the pants off you! Take your pick from the big name themeparks that really go to town with explosive fireworks, specially themed parties and the ubiquitous character costumes. Take your pick from Disney World, Universal, SeaWorld, Legoland and many other parks across Orlando.

Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom

The most famous entertainment park in Orlando, the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom, offers Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Visitors are encouraged to dress in Halloween costumes, trick-or-treat throughout the park and interact with Disney characters who are also dressed in costumes. Mickey’s “Boo-to-You” Halloween Parade is presented twice each night, featuring the Headless Horseman and the Haunted Mansion. Spooky colored lights, a variety of fiendish Disney characters, and a finale of orange and green fireworks makes this not-so-scary Halloween party unique and unforgettable.

Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 23

While Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is geared towards those seeking simple, fun experiences; Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 23 is for those looking for a truly frightening affair. Fans of horror films and disturbing, macabre television shows will recognize the themes in Universal’s Horror Nights. The realistic haunted houses are styled after the box office hit “Evil Dead,” and haunted mazes place visitors face to face with the terrifying evil from the movie. AMC’s “The Walking Dead” is featured all throughout the scare zones of the park, which have been transformed into the apocalyptic world of the hit television series. Visitors can experience the flight of the living and the conflicts with the dead from that television show.

SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular

SeaWorld’s Halloween Spooktacular is another option to explore on family holidays to Orlando to keep kids young and old happy. Not designed to be too scary, this is a good family-friendly option for those looking for more interactivity than frights. Visitors can use their Spooktacular maps to search for hidden sea treasures at different locations throughout the park while enjoying trick-or-treating, sea-themed arts and crafts and visiting with the park’s famous sea creatures. Visitors will delight in Shamu’s performance and the whimsy of the pumpkin fish throughout the park.

LEGOLAND Florida’s Brick-or-Treat

During the October weekends, LEGOLAND Florida offers Brick-or-Treat, an event that transforms the park into a haunted but entertaining scavenger hunt where visitors must find scary Lego creatures. Costume contests, trick-or-treating along the brick-or-treat trail, and building activities with Legos highlight this affair. The largest Lego pumpkin in the world is here and visitors can learn how to build their very own Lego pumpkin and add it to the Lego pumpkin patch for all to admire.

Zoo Boo Bash

If celebrating Halloween with wild animals appeals to you, the Zoo Boo Bash at Central Florida Zoo and Botanical Garden is worth visiting. Children are invited to trick-or-treat, wear costumes, take a haunted hayride through a pumpkin patch, and learn about the animals in the zoo. Adults and kids alike can meet the resident birds, feline, reptiles and primates as part of the regular activities and programmes.
