Explore Kate, William and Prince George’s Great Britain

  • July 27, 2013
  • Jules

Britain’s buzzing right now with the birth of Prince George, the Olympics anniversary and glorious weather*. So what better time to visit?

And the hottest thing in tourism right now is to explore the British locations that have connections with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – William and Kate.

Eton College, Windsor, London
Prince William attended London’s prestigious Eton College, which in its six centuries, has educated many members of the aristocracy. Prince William (and then also Prince Harry) was the first royal to attend, where he studied A-level biology, geography and history of art. He also played football and water polo. Visitors can tour various parts of the college and there are organised tours of the school yard, chapel and museum.

St Andrews, Scotland
Kate and William first met when they both attended the University of St Andrews in Fife in Scotland in 2001. Regarded as the third oldest university in the world, this is where the first pictures and stories began to emerge of Kate and William’s romance. William studied art history, but soon switched to geography. Kate also studied art history.

Anglesey, Wales
The small welsh island of Anglesey was home to newlywed couple in 2010 whilst William trained as a pilot. He had already graduated as an RAF pilot and spent 10 months training to pilot Sea King helicopters within the Search and Rescue Unit.

Westminster Abbey, London
The engagement of Prince William and Catherine Middleton was announced on 16 November 2010 and a high profile wedding soon followed on 29 April 2011 at Westminster Abbey. In fact the day was declared a public holiday in Britain, and millions tuned in to watch that kiss on the balcony of Buckingham Palace! Magnificent gothic Westminster Abbey hosted its 16th royal wedding in its 900 year old history. King Henry I, Queen Elizabeth II (then Princess Elizabeth) and Princess Margaret all got married here. Visitors can explore Westminster Abbey for themselves, as well as joining in with the regular worship sessions.

Royal Tour of Canada
Kate and William enjoyed a royal tour of Canada in summer 2011, two months after their spectacular wedding. The couple performed many ceremonial and official duties across Canada and it seemed that just about every moment was captured, probably due to the fact that they were accompanied by 1,300 official media staff.

Tour of Asia and Oceania
As Great Britain was in full party mode for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, Kate and William toured Asia and Oceania. Again we saw new pictures daily from their engagements in Singapore, Malaysia, Tuvalu and the Solomon Islands. See their traditional welcome on their arrival in the Solomon Islands on the YouTube video below:

Kate, William and the new Prince George will also take a Norfolk country retreat of their own this summer, at Anmer Hall, just two miles east of Sandringham House. The Grade II mansion house features a bell tower and a vast frontage.

And this year the royal residents will be spared spotting too much flesh on the estate’s Holkham Beach. The beach has long welcomed nudists but has decided to ban nudity completely after ‘unsavoury acts’ were reported!

*No responsibility will be taken for a return to wet, windy, cold weather – get here while it lasts!
