Foreign tourists that had a visit planned to Tibet have been told that until the end of March, the region has barred outsiders from entering.
This month is the 50th anniversary of the Dalai Lama going into exile. The Tibetan spiritual leader has said that this year the people should mark the day with prayer.
Tibet, or ‘Roof of the World’, has been a special destination for visitors for centuries. Travelers will be awe of the amazing scenery, the religious monuments and the Tibetan people are incredibly warm and friendly. The Dalai Lama himself is a firm believer in visitors to the country, to enable people to discover as much about this incredible place as possible.
Tibet is one of the most isolated places on the planet and rises as much as 4,5000m above sea level. Tibet is home to the magnificent Himalayas and the Yangzi and Mekong rivers both begin here as well.
